Important Article Review by Amelia Kuulei Gora, one of Kamehameha's, etals. descendants (2008)
The article showing the Premeditated, Planned Move to dethrone our Queen Liliuokalani was found by Shane Lee 2 1/2 months ago......The following is a Review of the article which affects all in our Hawaiian islands/Hawaiian archipelago/He Mokupuni Pae Aina o Hawaii/Hawaiian Kingdom/Kingdom of Hawaii:
PEARL HARBOR COALING STATION.
IMPERATIVE NECESSITY THAT THE UNITED STATES TAKE POSSESSION.
Washington, Jan. 8 - The United States, through the inactivity of the Navy Department, is likely to lose the only coaling station of which it stands in real need. Nothing has been done since 1884, when the Pearl Harbor site in the Hawaiian Islands became available, beyond a number of surveys which have abundantly demonstrated the excellence of this harbor as a site for a naval station.
Note: A deed from King David Kalakaua was claimed for by the KSBE - Kamehameha Schools Bishop Estates because it was done in 1876 from King Kalakaua to Mataio Kekuanaoa (father of Kamehameha IV, V, Victoria Kamamalu, Moses, Paalua, etals.) and his wife Kamaikui/Grace Kamaikui (mother of Hueu Davis, Kale Davis, and Peke Davis. Queen Emma was adopted by Dr. TCB Rooke alone and was regarded as an adopted child.) Important are the facts that Mataio Kekuanaoa died in 1868 and Grace Kamaikui died in 1866.
This means that the Pearl Harbor claims by the U.S. is a fraud. The owners of Pearl Harbor, Halawa Valley/Ahupuaa are the John Young's descendants and heirs. Many exist today.
This also means that the WAR over Pearl Harbor was a FRAUD, and hundreds of thousands of people died needlessly......serious business folks......because many lives were lost over Pearl Harbor including the use of multiples of atomic bomb tests in the U.S., in the Marshall Islands, Hawaiian islands, Nagasaki, Japan, and Hiroshima, Japan! , etc.
The partiality of the Navy Department for the more distant Pago Pago as against Pearl Harbor is surprising to those who know England's ambition for securing the site on the Hawaiian Islands and the desire of the French and Germans to the same end. Pearl Harbor is regarded by these maritime nations as the best site for a war supply depot in the Pacific. Once secured by England, it places her principal station 2,700 miles nearer the Pacific seaports than the single coaling station and supply depot which this country owns, for Pago Pago is 5,000 miles from the California ports, while Pearl Harbor is 2,300 miles. The latter will serve at once as an aid in the protection of the Pacific coast cities and of the western entrance of the Nicaragua Canal, if it be completed under American control.
Note: The French did survey the Pacific Ocean and England, U.S. funded further studies in the Pacific. 3,000 miles was the determined amount of miles that the U.S. claimed for outside of the contiguous U.S. All free nations saw that as a threat. Although Pago Pago was brought up, the U.S. was not able to move and assume 5,000 miles because Japan, other nations would be within that range. The U.S. move was based on the "Monroe Doctrine". This in effect put all nations on alert.
In reality, the U.S. President and Congress have limitations of only 300 miles outside of the contiguous U.S. according to the U.S. Supreme Court documented in 1996.
After the criminal dethronement of Hawaii's Queen, the U.S. grabbed for Hawaii, England grabbed for Aetearoa/New Zealand, and the Germans grabbed for the Samoan Islands.
Our Hawaiian islands, Aetearoa, and Samoan Islands were known as the Pacific Empire and was pulled together through treaties by Kamehamameha.
The bankrupt nations had invested in the slave nation U.S. Civil War, losses were great and the U.S. was able to borrow from the German Jews who expected a 10% return in interest. A U.S. representative approached King Kalakaua and our House of Nobles for a loan and were declined because payment would not have been for thousands of years ---only interest amounts would have been given.
Kamehameha III in our Hawaiian islands passed the anti-slavery law in 1852, the American Civil War financed by France, England, and the U.S. sufferred great losses and owed to the Bank of England.
In 1865, the U.S. passed the anti-slavery law with nearly exact wording as Kamehameha III's anti-slavery law.
The remote Pago Pago might as well be in the Atlantic for all the value a station at that place would be in protecting either the Pacific possess alone or any interests she may have at Nicaragua, and Pago Pago might as well be under the British flag if the English Government is to secure the right to coal her vessels and repair her ships in Pearl Harbor. This is what the English Government is striving for and will probably be in possession of when the existing treaty between the United States and the Hawaiian Government shall have expired. This will be in 1894, and although a new treaty is now pending, which may take the place of the present convention, before the date of expiration, there is a possibility that the privilege which the United States now possesses on the Island of Oahu may be lost. In which event, the English are pretty sure to outgeneral the French and the Germans in securing the most important and valuable naval station in the Pacific.
Note: The date of the article in the New York Times was January 9, 1893 or seven (7) days before the move by Americans in Hawaii to assume the Hawaiian islands/Hawaiian government/Hawaiian archipelago/Kingdom of Hawaii/Hawaiian Kingdom/He Mokupuni Pae Aina o Hawaii.
The Pearl Harbor Treaty was expected to expire in 1894. Queen Liliuokalani documented the U.S. as having breached the Law of Nations, she was criminally dethroned by conspirators/PIRATES/terrororists/treasonous persons in Hawaii who long sought the island paradise since they stepped foot on our ancient lands.
The conspirators/PIRATES/terrorists/treasonous persons under direct U.S. planned, premeditated orders criminally assumed a neutral, non-violent nation, whose Queen denied them loans for WARS against others, pay for WAR debts, etc. criminally assumed a friendly nation, moved to PIRACY and made treaties with their own selves, their own nation, the U.S.
All nations since 1893 have been on alert against the International PIRATES who move to enslaven all people of color/exterminate all people of color, etc. and move towards One World Order, etc.
to be continued in the next issue.
aloha.

CD-ROM multimedia, that ultimate hybrid, keeps borrowing old forms as it tries to become something more than an interesting concept with great potential.
"Critical Mass: America's Race to Build the Atomic Bomb" (Corbis Corporation, about $50) is multimedia as coffee-table book. The design is attractive. The visual (and in this case, audible) contents are striking. But initial admiration eventually gives way to a nagging sense that one is getting a gloss on the story rather than the story itself.
The CD-ROM introduces the historical setting with a documentary prelude as breathlessly overwrought as any 1940's newsreel. The program then sets you free to roam at random. One possible destination is a less frantic documentary, The Los Alamos Story, which recounts a rather sketchy chronology of the events leading up to the first nuclear blast.
The focus on Los Alamos continues with a self-guided tour of the original atomic development site. Panoramic artist's renderings (described as 3-D, which they are not) let you swivel your virtual gaze 360 degrees from various vantage points, a cute but ultimately uninformative touch, particularly when period photos "put you there" more effectively. Clicking on certain buildings launches short documentaries about their functions; unfortunately, the theater and commissary are described much more convincingly than the technical facilities.
Biographies of 13 crucial figures of atomic history are offered in screens of illustrated text. Among those figures, Niels Bohr, Robert Oppenheimer, Richard Feynman and Enrico Fermi are also given narrated biographies. This material is among the most successful sections of the disk, but in part because its creators can have no idea about the order in which you will read it, it gives you only the dimmest sense of chronology or of how the nuclear discoveries of the early 20th century built upon one another. Because tricky scientific concepts generally receive mentions instead of explanations, you get a better view of the scientists as people than as scientists.
Timelines offer extra information in five categories: atomic events, scientists, popular culture, political history and military technology. The images and sounds are often revealing, including a 1915 "Treat 'em Rough" recruitment poster for the Tank Corps, a postwar Kix Atomic Bomb Ring, the Buchanan Brothers' country gospel song "Atomic Power" and newsreel footage of the convicted atomic spies Julius and Ethel Rosenberg. While the explanatory text is pithy and well-written, it rarely amounts to more than a paragraph or two per image.
A clever "atomic atlas" of the world lets you see when countries acquired nuclear weapons and track sites of nuclear detonations, accidents, reactors and uranium mining over time. The accident list is particularly interesting, but cries out for more explanation. A particularly ghastly accident, for example, is described in just three terse words: "Chernobyl reactor explodes." The consequences, left unexplained, might seem less important than many more trivial occurrences.
A section of the program called "Beyond Trinity" displays postwar images, but its lack of context makes it little more than a slide show of mysterious images. "A patient with a cancer of the chest wall is about to receive an injection of radioactive gallium 72 for therapeutic purposes," reads the caption of a photograph from 1951. Was this technique in any way as successful as the equally unexplained "gamma knife surgery" depicted in a 1989 photo? The producers give us not a hint.
This willful failure to engage with the material is particularly galling in the "archives" section, whose original documents have been beautifully digitized right down to multiple classification and declassification stamps in various shades of red. Only terse captions give us any clue to the significance of this tantalizing material. Who are the experimenters and who are the subjects in the 1944 letter captioned "Plutonium Tests on Humans?" Is the blandly labeled 1943 "Letter from Oppenheimer" to Fermi really discussing the concept of "radioactively poisoned foods" as a possible weapon? Are we meant to admire Feynman's assertiveness in a 1951 letter to Fermi from Rio de Janeiro challenging "Yukawa's meson theory with pseudoscalar mesons gradient coupling" or merely chuckle at his remarks, nine pages of dense mathematical rumination later, about going to Copacabana beach to get ideas? The editors remain silent.

from Stephen Gowens:
West Takes Aim at Belarus' Pro-Social Policies
Belarus is one of the few remaining genuine alternatives to the neo-liberal
economic order. A US nurtured and bankrolled fifth column is working with
Washington to topple it from within.
By Stephen Gowans
The US government has nurtured a fifth column in Belarus to help overthrow
the Lukashenko government to replace its socialist-oriented policies with a
made-in-the-USA neo-liberal regime that favours US investors and
corporations.
The US State Department last year provided funding to five opposition
parties and 566 opposition activists, and support and training to over 70
civil society organizations, 71 antigovernment journalists and 21 opposition
media outlets in Belarus. On top of that, 900 Belarusian youth were enrolled
tuition-free at US government-expense at the European Humanities University.
The university is an alternative to Belarusian state schools which the US
government condemns for failing to "support the country's transformation to
a free-market democracy."

"They forced their way into native settlements, slaughtering everyone they found there, including small children, old men, pregnant women, and even women who had just given birth. They hacked them to pieces, slicing open their bellies with their swords as though they were so many sheep herded into a pen. They even laid wagers on whether they could manage to slice a man in two at a stroke, or cut an individual's head from his body, or disembowel him with a single blow of their axes. They grabbed suckling infants by the feet and, ripping them from their mothers' breasts, dashed them headlong against the rocks. Others, laughing and joking all the while, threw them over their shoulders into a river, shouting: 'Wriggle, you little perisher.' - Father Bartolomé de Las Casas

Georgia would not allow an appeal. The Supreme Court stopped the execution in Septemeber but now has refused to hear the case.

Bush's Real Problem with Eliot Spitzer
The exposure of New York State Governor Eliot Spitzers tryst with a luxury call girl had little to do with the Bush administrations high moral standards for public servants. Author F. William Engdahl advises that, in evaluating spectacular scandals around prominent public figures, it is important to ask what and who might want to eliminate that person. Timing suggests that Spitzer was likely a target of a White House and Wall Street operation to silence one of its most dangerous and vocal critics of their handling of the current financial market crisis.
Spitzer had become increasingly public in blaming the Bush administration for the subprime crisis. He testified in mid-February before the US House of Representatives Financial Services subcommittee and later that day, in a national CNBC interview, laid blame squarely on the administration for creating an environment ripe for predatory lenders.
On February 14, the Washington Post published an editorial by Spitzer titled, Predatory Lenders Partner in Crime: How the Bush Administration Stopped the States From Stepping In to Help Consumers, which charged, Not only did the Bush administration do nothing to protect consumers, it embarked on an aggressive and unprecedented campaign to prevent states from protecting their residents from the very problems to which the federal government was turning a blind eye.
In this editorial, Spitzer explained:
The administration accomplished this feat through an obscure federal agency called the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). The OCC has been in existence since the Civil War. Its mission is to ensure the fiscal soundness of national banks. For 140 years, the OCC examined the books of national banks to make sure they were balanced, an important but uncontroversial function. But a few years ago, for the first time in its history, the OCC was used as a tool against consumers.
In 2003, during the height of the predatory lending crisis, the OCC invoked a clause from the 1863 National Bank Act to issue formal opinions preempting all state predatory lending laws, thereby rendering them inoperative. The OCC also promulgated new rules that prevented states from enforcing any of their own consumer protection laws against national banks. The federal governments actions were so egregious and so unprecedented that all 50 state attorneys general, and all 50 state banking superintendents, actively fought the new rules.
But the unanimous opposition of the 50 states did not deter, or even slow, the Bush administration in its goal of protecting the banks. In fact, when my office opened an investigation of possible discrimination in mortgage lending by a number of banks, the OCC filed a federal lawsuit to stop the investigation.
The editorial appeared the day after Spitzers ill-fated rendezvous with the prostitute at the Mayflower Hotel. With that article, some Washington insiders believe, Spitzer signed his own political death warrant.
On March 4, 2008, Spitzer furthermore proposed legislation that would have imposed penalties for mortgage fraud and predatory lending.
Curiously, Spitzer, who had been elected governor in 2006, defeating a Republican by winning nearly 70 percent of the vote, has been not charged with any crime. His case went into the hands of Washington and not those of New York State authorities, underscoring the clear political nature of Spitzers offense. New York Assembly Republicans immediately announced plans to impeach Spitzer or put him on public trial if he were to refuse resignation. Although prostitution is illegal in most US states, clients of prostitutes are almost never charged, nor are their names typically released while a case is in process.
Spitzers editorial concluded, When history tells the story of the sub-prime lending crisis and recounts its devastating effects on the lives of so many innocent homeowners, the Bush administration will not be judged favorably . . . it will be judged as a willing accomplice to the lenders who went to any lengths in their quest for profits. The administration was so willing, in fact, that it used the power of the federal government in an unprecedented assault on state legislatures, as well as on state attorneys general and anyone else on the side of consumers.

Liquidating the Empire
by Patrick J. Buchanan
"Liquidate labor, liquidate stocks, liquidate the farmers."
So Treasury Secretary Andrew Mellon advised Herbert Hoover in the Great Crash of '29.
Hoover did. And the nation liquidated him and the Republicans.
In the Crash of 2008, 40 percent of stock value has vanished, almost $9 trillion. Some $5 trillion in real estate value has disappeared. A recession looms with sweeping layoffs, unemployment compensation surging, and social welfare benefits soaring.
America's first trillion-dollar deficit is at hand.
In fiscal year 2008 the deficit was $438 billion.
With tax revenue sinking, we will add to this year's deficit the $200 to $300 billion needed to wipe the rotten paper off the books of Fannie and Freddie, the $700 billion (plus the $100 billion in add-ons and pork) for the Wall Street bailout, the $85 billion to bail out AIG, and $37 billion more now needed, the $25 billion for GM, Chrysler, and Ford, and the hundreds of billions Hank Paulson will need to buy corporate paper and bail out banks to stop the panic.
As Americans save nothing, where are the Feds going to get the money? Is the Fed going to print it and destroy the dollar and credit rating of the United States? Because the nations whose vaults are full of dollars and U.S. debt China, Japan, Saudi Arabia, the Gulf Arabs are reluctant to lend us more. Sovereign wealth funds that plunged billions into U.S. banks have already been burned.
Uncle Sam's Visa card is about to be stamped "Canceled."
The budget is going to have to go under the knife. But what gets cut?
Social Security and Medicare are surely exempt. Seniors have already taken a huge hit in their 401(k)s. And as the Democrats are crafting another $150 billion stimulus package for the working poor and middle class, Medicaid and food stamps are untouchable. Interest on the debt cannot be cut. It is going up. Will a Democratic Congress slash unemployment benefits, welfare, education, student loans, veterans benefits in a recession?
No way. Yet, that is almost the entire U.S. budget except for defense, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and foreign aid. And this is where the ax will eventually fall.
It is the American Empire that is going to be liquidated.
Retrenchment has begun with Bush's backing away from confrontations with Axis-of-Evil charter members Iran and North Korea over their nuclear programs, and will likely continue with a negotiated peace in Afghanistan. Gen. Petraeus and Secretary Gates are already talking "reconciliation" with the Taliban.
We no longer live in Eisenhower or Reagan's America. Even the post-Cold War world of George H. W. Bush, where America was a global hegemon, is history. In both relative and real terms, the U.S.A. is a diminished power.
Where Ike spent 9 percent of GDP on defense, Reagan 6 percent, we spend 4 percent. Yet we have two wars bleeding us and many more nations to defend, with commitments in the Baltic, Eastern Europe, and the Balkans we did not have in the Cold War. As U.S. weapons systems are many times more expensive today, we have fewer strategic aircraft and Navy ships than Ike or Reagan commanded. Our active-duty Army and Marine Corps consist of 700,000 troops, 15 percent women, and a far higher percentage of them support rather than combat troops.
With so few legions, we cannot police the world, and we cannot afford more. Yet, we have a host of newly hostile nations we did not have in 1989.
U.S. interests in Latin America are being challenged not only by Cuba, but Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador, Nicaragua, and Honduras. Brazil, Argentina, and Chile go their own way. Russia is reasserting hegemony in the Caucasus, testing new ICBMs, running bomber probes up to U.S. air space. China, growing at 10 percent as we head into recession, is bristling over U.S. military sales to Taiwan. Iran remains defiant. Pakistan is rife with anti-Americanism and al-Qaeda sentiment.
The American Empire has become a vast extravagance.
With U.S. markets crashing and wealth vanishing, what are we doing with 750 bases and troops in over 100 countries?
With a recession of unknown depth and duration looming, why keep borrowing billions from rich Arabs to defend rich Europeans, or billions from China and Japan to hand out in Millennium Challenge Grants to Tanzania and Burkina Faso?
America needs a bottom-up review of all strategic commitments dating to a Cold War now over for 20 years.
Is it essential to keep 30,000 troops in a South Korea with twice the population and 40 times the wealth of the North? Why are McCain and Obama offering NATO memberships, i.e., war guarantees against Russia, to a Georgia run by a hothead like Mikheil Saakashvili, and a Ukraine, millions of whose people prefer their kinship to Russia to an alliance with us?
We must put "country first," says John McCain.
Right you are, Senator. Time to look out for America first.

The Mortgage Bankers Association is holding its national conference in San Francisco. The banks are responsible for creating the housing crisis that is forcing millions of people out of houses and apartments across the country. Despite receiving hundreds of billions of dollars in taxpayers' money to rescue them after their sub-prime and other high risk schemes collapsed, the bankers are opposed to reforms that would allow people to renegotiate their mortgages and stay in their homes. The banks and politicians—including Bush, Pelosi, McCain and Obama—blocked adding a point to the bailout bill that could have prevented millions of evictions. McCain Transition Chief Aided Saddam In Lobbying Effort
William Timmons, the Washington lobbyist who John McCain has named to head his presidential transition team, aided an influence effort on behalf of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein to ease international sanctions against his regime.
The two lobbyists who Timmons worked closely with over a five year period on the lobbying campaign later either pleaded guilty to or were convicted of federal criminal charges that they had acted as unregistered agents of Saddam Hussein's government.
Dear MoveOn member,
Obama's now ahead in most polls. That's great, but there's just one problem: the polls could be wrong.
This is an unprecedented election. No one knows how racism may affect what voters tell pollsters—or what they'll do in the privacy of the voting booth. And there are plenty of other unknowns.
We can't afford to take any chances with the most important election of our lifetimes. Whatever the polls say, we need to mobilize a flood of volunteers to get out, talk to voters, and make sure every single Obama supporter makes it to the polls.
We've built a tool that makes it easy for you to call from home and recruit more volunteers for Obama in Ohio, Florida, Colorado and other key states. Can you make a few calls today? Click here:

Courage to Resist Project Director October 15, 2008

I'm proud to report that we have more than doubled the number of military objectors advised or directly supported since last year. To do this, our organizing collective has stepped up to the challenge in major ways, and we increased our staffing as well.
We're now attempting to do this work in the context of an unprecedented economic meltdown that financially affects every one of us in some way. Even prior to that, we were competing with a historic presidential election campaign for your donation. Of course we hold out hope for a new foreign policy not based on brutal occupations, but we're not holding our breath. If change does happen, it will take time for any new foreign policy to trickle down to the courageous men and women who are refusing to fight today.
Quick facts about our budget:
86% of our entire budget has come directly from folks such as you.
We currently rely on approximately 2,000 contributors across the U.S.
The average donation we receive is just over $40.
About half of our budget goes directly to supporting individual resisters.
The remaining 14% of our budget comes from small grants made by progressive foundations.
Recently, we brought on board Sarah Lazare as Project Coordinator who has hit the ground running working with resisters, publishing articles, and collaborating with our allies in the justice and peace movement. Sarah is a former union organizer, Democracy Now! intern, and volunteer at a refugee camp in Lebanon.
Also new to our staff is our Office Manager Adam Seibert, who like me is a former Marine. Adam served in Somalia prior to going UA / AWOL under threat of another combat deployment.
I've never felt better about our staff and organizing collective. We're undertaking urgent and unique work that directly contributes to ending war. However, we are currently running a $4,000 monthly deficit. Whether we can move forward with our work to support the troops who refuse to fight is in large part based on your shared commitment to this project.
For a review of our current work with resisters Tony Anderson, Blake Ivy, Robin Long, and our women and men fighting to remain in Canada, please check our homepage. We have also posted an organizational timeline of action that details our work since 2003.
Today I'm asking that you consider a contribution of $100 or more, or become a sustainer at $20 or more a month. With your direct assistance, I'm confident we'll be able to move forward together in challenging our government's policies of empire. Together we have the power to end the war.

How McCain Will Steal the Election from Obama (Sort Of)
AP/Jae C. Hong
Tom Matzzie: In the event that campaigning, purging and intimidating voters doesn't work, the Right is creating a myth like they did in 1960. They are creating the myth of a stolen election. Conservatives plan to claim that ACORN and Barack Obama stole the election. Their hope is to steal the legitimacy of what is looking like a massive repudiation of Bush, conservatives and the Republican Party. The Right plans to steal the election by trying to steal the legitimate defeat of them by progressive forces. And why wouldn't they? The entire Republican coalition could be shattered with this election. Click here to read more.

RJ Eskow: GOP's Defense: She Shot the Sheriff, But She Did Not Shoot the Deputy
As frightening as a Palin Vice Presidency (and possible Presidency) would be, this story is really about John McCain.
Diane Tucker: Cindy McCain's Attack On Obama's Record Offends Military Spouses
"It ruffles our feathers when someone claims that Barack Obama doesn't support the troops, because the Obamas have gone out of their way to understand the military, its families, and its veterans."
Jared Bernstein: Risk Manager-In-Chief
While bad risk management in financial markets is capturing our attention right now, the problem goes much deeper. Faulty intelligence overestimated the risk from WMD's in Iraq, and underestimated the challenges our military would face from the insurgents. In fact, when it comes to risk assessment, economic or otherwise, it is now quite impossible to trust the judgments of our leaders. You can't assess risk if your mind is closed. Now how does this all map onto Obama/Biden versus McCain/Palin?

Bolstering Our Economy
It's clear that our nation's economy is in crisis. Since the beginning of the year, nearly 750,000 Americans have lost their jobs. In the past few weeks alone, we have witnessed the near-collapse of three of the five independent U.S. investment banks. As a result, Americans are finding it harder to get loans to buy homes or pay for their children's college education. Businesses are having a hard time raising the cash to run their day-to-day operations. And states and local governments are having an increasingly difficult time selling bonds to pay for schools, roads and other key infrastructure. Meanwhile, the precipitous drop in the stock market has erased more than $2 trillion from Americans' pensions and retirement accounts.
With this instability, we could not afford to sit by idly and let this crisis take a further toll on the economy.
The Senate and House acted quickly to pass legislation aimed at shoring up our financial markets to boost the American and New Mexico economy, prevent further job losses, and protect Americans' savings. The new law was the result of a bipartisan effort, which we hope will restore confidence in our financial markets, but also will help New Mexico families who are struggling to make ends meet. Under the plan the Secretary of the Treasury can invest in these markets to relieve the credit crunch that is hurting small businesses and families. It does so while providing strong protections for taxpayers, helping Americans keep their homes, and cracking down on excessive compensation for those corporate executives who got us in this crisis.
While this plan is not a perfect solution – it is a responsive and realistic one. But there is still much to be done to ensure we never again find ourselves in this position. We must address the inadequate regulatory framework that enabled this crisis, and commit to enacting comprehensive reforms.
As a side benefit, the law enacted last week also contains renewable energy tax incentives that I believe will help New Mexico create jobs and grow our economy. Specifically, the bill contains tax credits for creating energy from wind and other renewable sources, making it much cheaper to produce. It also extends by eight years the 30 percent investment tax credit for businesses that invest in solar and fuel cell technologies, and extends the 30 percent credit for homeowners who install solar power technology in their residences. That credit also includes investments in geothermal heat pumps and small wind technologies. By expanding these tax credits, New Mexico businesses and families will have added flexibility in choosing the energy-saving technologies that make the most sense for them.
These wind and solar tax incentives, which were set to expire at the end of the year, are necessary for us to continue to shift to domestically produced clean energy, and continue to expand New Mexico's already robust 'green manufacturing' sector. They could create an estimated 12,000 direct and 7,000 indirect jobs in New Mexico and generate $232 billion in nationwide investment over the next eight years.
In addition to the renewable energy incentives, the measure contains tax credits for energy conservation and efficiency as well as incentives for industries that employ thousands of New Mexicans. For instance, the bill extends the research and development tax credit, which is critical to our state's high-tech companies like Intel. Additionally, it enhances federal tax incentives for domestic film and television production, making TV and film production in our state even more attractive for film studios.
I am hopeful that this new law, combined with other actions, will help stabilize and shore up our nation's economy. And I am pleased that it extends and improves tax incentives for many of New Mexico's key industries – including clean energy, film production, and high-tech. I believe it is an important step toward maintaining a strong economy in our state.

Common threats for the hawk are illegal shootings, the degradation of their native forest habitat, poisoning, vehicle collisions, starvation, and predation from other animals. The 'Io usually hunts from a stationary position, but can also dive on prey from the air. It feeds on rats, small birds, stream animals, crickets, praying mantises, millipedes, centipedes, and occasionally the worm. It will also feed on the Hawaiian Crow, another one of Hawaii's endangered birds.
